Once again, fraud is alive and is doing the rounds. SASSA has now warned beneficiaries of fake messages going around. As grants from SASSA become more and more in demand, warnings to applicants of any fake responses have become more common.
SASSA took to social media to say that the following is a fake message going around which says:
SASSA is allowing beneficiaries to check their balance-Using their phones by simple dialing this ussd code 120*3210#, this code will show you the balance on your status and sassa is advising beneficiary to check for their status before the go to post offices.
The message comes through under the subject line stating, "View your Sassa balance now".
If you want to make sure that a response is directly from SASSA, you can contact SASSA to confirm if it's legit.
Many recipients of SASSA's R350 grant, set up as a relief effort for those who are left vulnerable due to Covid, have still not received payments and are in the dark about when they will.
It has now been four months since the grant was first introduced. The grant is a part of the R500 billion Government invested for economic and social relief for those who were left struggling during the pandemic.
Since May, there are several citizens who have not received consistent payments or payments at all. Some individuals have been left in snaking queues to pick up their R350 but still don't receive anything.
