Applying for job takes time, but also money. Recognising that traveling to apply for jobs, submit CVs or attend meetings can be expensive, the Jobseeker Travel Voucher scheme has now been extended.

The programme was introduced by the Western Cape government so that jobseekers could ride on Golden Arrow buses free of charge.  When it was introduced then only jobseekers who were registered by companies could benefit.

Free Bus Vouchers

However this has now been extended and jobseekers can register themselves online via the registration portal.

The Western Cape government has said that "the 'Getting YOU to Work' is part of the Western Cape Government’s Growth 4 Jobs Strategy, through which we are doing everything we can to grow the provincial economy, create jobs, and tackle unemployment, which currently stands at 20%".

This allows jobseekers in Cape Town to use Golden Arrow buses during the week.

Who Can Participate?

To be eligible for a voucher, a jobseeker must:
•    Be unemployed;
•    Have a valid South African ID, and
•    Be registered on the Online Portal or be registered by an employer.

So if an employer hasn't registered you, you can now register yourself.

Once you have completed the registration you will receive an SMS confirming your registration. They you can present your ID at your nearest participating Golden Arrow Bus Service kiosk, van or independent seller to collect your free Gold Card.
