The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) Online Admissions System has been improved for all schools to remain open & accessible for applications throughout the application period.
The department has announced that the admissions systems will be open for Grade 1 and Grade 8 from 22 July 2022 to 19 August 2022.
In a statement, Gauteng Education explained:
No school will disappear from the system during the application period.
Parents and guardians who will be applying for admission for the 2023 schooling year have been urged to note that placement will be received as per the admissions regulations.
Placement as per admission regulations is as follows:
- Home address within feeder zone
- Siblings
- Work Address (for those who applied for schools closer to work, space permitting)
- Within 30km Radius
- Beyond 30km Radius
According to the department’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona each school’s capacity and the placement criteria will determine placement.
Parents are urged to submit the required certified documents to the system or submit them physically only to the schools chosen within 7 days of applying.
