The Cabinet has congratulated the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and the Class of 2024 for the successful conclusion of the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.
The final exams for the 2024 matric class ended on 28 November 2024 after the important exam period.
During a media briefing on Thursday, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni highlighted the government's efforts to ensure a seamless marking and results process.
More than 55,000 qualified markers were appointed to mark 2024 matric exams.
Government has set up 181 marking centres across the country, which have all been audited and deemed ready,
When The Minister of Will Release 2024 Matric Results
The Minister of Basic Education Gwarube confirmed that the final results will be announced on 13 January 2025, with provincial education departments releasing results to candidates on 14 January 2025.
Results were set to be released on Thursday, 15 January, with candidates receiving their results on 16 January. However, the results will now be released a few days earlier.
The change in the matric results release date to accommodate the commencement of the 2025 school year. The 2025 school year will begin on 15 January 2025 and conclude on 10 December 2025. During the 46-week school year, learners will spend 199 days in the classroom.
Last month, Minister Gwarube thanked teachers, officials, parents, and other stakeholders involved in the process.

As the marking process gets underway, all eyes will now turn to January 2025 when the performance of the Class of 2024 will be unveiled.
