Applications for Phase 5 of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) are closed. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) revealed that thousands of youth applied for positions for the latest iteration of the programme.

Several school assistant positions are available during phase 5. These include reading champions, reading assistants, e-cadres/ICT assistants, CSAs, Handypersons, Sports and Enrichment Assistants, Laboratory Assistants, and Workshop assistants.

The DBE confirmed that shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews from 19 May 2025. The interview and contracting process will continue until 26 May 2025.

Applicants are encouraged to keep their cellphones on and maintain access to the cellphone numbers they listed when applying for teaching assistant positions.

Keep an eye on your phone! Shortlisted individuals will receive an SMS from either the school or the Provincial Education Department (PED) inviting them for an interview. These SMS invitations will be sent out by schools between May 19 and May 26, 2025.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide several documents to the school or provincial education department.
