The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) confirmed 2025 application dates for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students. This includes Trimester 3 NSFAS application dates.
NSFAS has multiple application periods for TVET college students.
NSFAS TVET College Application Dates
TVET college programmes don’t start in January and end in December; they may begin at different times during the academic year and are divided into semesters and Trimesters.
NSFAS application periods are closely aligned with TVET college academic calendars, allowing students to apply for funding at the start of their programmes.
When NSFAS 2025 Applications Will Open For Trimester 3
- Opening Date: 8 September 2025
- Closing Date: 19 September 2025
How To Apply For NSFAS
Only online applications using the myNSFAS portal will be accepted as NSFAS announced that there won't be a walk-in application period in January.
Step 1: Go to NSFAS website and click the 'myNSFAS' tab.
Step 2: Create a myNSFAS account.
Step 3: Click on the 'APPLY' tab and complete the sections on the screen.
Step 4: Upload required supporting documents where applicable.
Step 5: Click on 'Submit'
NSFAS Requirements For TVET College Students
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be registered or intending to register for a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programme.
- Students must comply with the N+Rule.
- Must not enrol for a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning
Applicants will only be approved for NSFAS funding if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R350,000 of combined gross family income per annum for a bursary or R600,000 for an NSFAS loan.
