The University of South Africa (Unisa) has released the October/November 2024 exam results. Thousands of students participated in the final Unisa exams and will now receive their exam results.
While many students will be satisfied with their 2024 Unisa exam results, some students may not be. There are several options available to these students depending on their Unisa Exam code.
Here’s What Unisa Codes Mean
- 1: Pass - Achieved with a final mark of 50% and above.
- 2: Pass with Distinction - Obtained with a final mark of 75% and above.
- 3: Failed - Received a final mark below 50%, requiring re-registration for the module.
- 5: Absent from Examination - Issued when submissions are not received within the allowed period, requiring re-registration for the module.
- 6: Supplementary Examination - Granted under certain circumstances, allowing students a second examination opportunity without re-registration.
- 7/99: Results Outstanding - Marks are pending, and students can follow up from December 14, 2023.
- 8: Not Admitted to an Examination - Issued if examination admission criteria are not met, necessitating re-registration.
- 24: Absent – Supplementary - Given when the proctoring tool is not used in the first examination opportunity; re-registration is required for the second opportunity.
- 28: Script Rejected - Outcome for students not using the proctoring tool in their second opportunity; re-registration is necessary.
Unisa started the staggered release of exam results earlier this month and final releases set to be completed by 13 December 2024.
Unisa opened applications for exam re-marks. Students have until 31 January 2025 to request a re-mark or buy a copy of their exam scripts.
Re-mark requests can be submitted online via myUnisa or emailed to remark@unisa.ac.za. To purchase a script, students must email purchasescript@unisa.ac.za with their student number in the subject line.
Only marks in the 35%-49% or 68%-74% range qualify for re-marks. Scripts flagged for academic dishonesty are excluded.
Aegrotat Application Rules
Unisa outlined the rules for aegrotat applications, which allow postgraduate students to apply if illness, bereavement, or exceptional circumstances prevent them from sitting an exam.
Postgraduate students can apply if they miss their first online exam for reasons such as power outages, internet issues, illness, or a family death. Applications must be submitted within 10 days of the missed exam. No applications are accepted after the results are released.
Aegrotats are not allowed for missed second exams. Full details are on the Aegrotat and Special Exams page on Unisa’s website.
No Aegrotats for Undergraduates
Undergraduates are not eligible for aegrotats. They automatically have two exam opportunities per module. The second serves as a fallback for missed or failed first attempts.
Applications for aegrotats at the undergraduate level will cause a system error.
Unisa stated no third opportunity would be given. Students who miss or fail both exams must re-enrol for the module.
