A march took place at Stellenbosch University where students handed over a memorandum to the university which stated a few of their demands.
The students stated that they would like the student who urinated on another’s belongs to be expelled and that there should be an end to the victimization of black students at the university.
“One student even went as far as saying that in one of the altercations where management was arguing with one of the students he used the k word”.
Students would also like for “an end to a lot of the cultures and things that have been happening such as the initiation process of first-year students at the university”.
The memorandum also stated that the students would like an equal ground in terms of demographics of people working within the institution such as a more diverse variety of people working as cleaners and in management positions.
With regards to affordability, many students cannot afford the fees and there shouldn't be the case where people are only accepted due to their finances.
Students are hoping to see a transformation in all aspects of student life at Stellenbosch University.
There were also rumours that the fathers of the students were meeting to reconcile the "urination" matter, however, according to friends of the student affected by the incident, these rumours are false.
