Sassa distributes over 18 million permanent grant payments, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid. This is in addition to the approximately 8 million Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant beneficiaries.
A post being shared on social media claims that grant beneficiaries will receive a double grant payment for the month of April 2025. It further claims that these payments will be made due to grant payment delays for previous months.
Sassa warned members of the public that this information is false and that no additional grant payments will be made for April.

The head of communication at Sassa, Paseka Letsatsi, called on beneficiaries to only rely on reputable sources for updates on Sassa grants. He further cautioned beneficiaries against sharing unverified information.
