The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has called on appeal applicants to submit documentation to support their appeal applications.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at Universities and TVET colleges. Funding covers tuition and registration fees as well as several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.

Thousands of students applied for NSFAS funding for the 2025 academic year. However, not all NSFAS applicants were approved for funding.

Unsuccessful NSFAS applicants can submit a NSFAS appeal which ensures their initial funding application is reconsidered.

Calls For Required Documents

NSFAS called on students to submit the required documents to support their appeal application. "As NSFAS continues to process appeal submissions from applicants whose applications were unsuccessful, you are reminded that we require relevant supporting documentation to finalise your appeal," said NSFAS.

The government bursary scheme confirmed that all appeal applicants will receive an SMS and mail containing the documents needed to support their appeal application.

A message requesting supporting documents will be sent to the cellphone number and email address you provided on the MyNSFAS portal during the application process. Failure to submit these within 30 days of receiving an SMS or email will unfortunately result in the closure of your appeal.

NSFAS warned that students must submit these documents within 30 days of receiving the request or their appeal application will be rejected.
