The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed the 2025 NSFAS appeal closing date. This is critical information for students whose 2025 NSFAS applications were rejected but want to secure funding for the coming academic year. 

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving learners enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. Funding from the bursary scheme covers tuition and registration fees, as well as several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.

NSFAS 2025 Application Period 

The 2025 NSFAS application period opened on 21 September 2024. When applications closed on 15 December 2024, NSFAS revealed that they received 890,599 bursary applications and 17,369 loan applications.

Funding decisions were already made for more than 200,000 students. However, not all funding decisions were positive for students as many who applied for funding were rejected. 

Students whose NSFAS applications are rejected are encouraged to submit a NSFAS appeal application. 

NSFAS 2025 Appeals Closing Date

There is no set NSFAS appeal application deadline date. However, there is a deadline by which unsuccessful NSFAS applicants must submit a NSFAS appeal application. 

NSFAS explained that unsuccessful applicants have 30 days upon receipt of their unsuccessful NSFAS decision. 

Its therefore critical for students to submit a NSFAS appeal application as soon as they receive their NSFAS application decision.
