The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will continue processing applications for 2025 funding from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges over the coming days.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. NSFAS funding covers tuition and registration fees, as well as several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.

While NSFAS will not allow walk-in applications for 2025 funding, the scheme has announced that late applications will be accepted in January 2025.

In a recent circular, NSFAS confirmed 2025 late applications.

This circular cancels the previous communication contained in Circular 9 of 2024, which stated that NSFAS will not be opening 2025 TVET walk-in applications in January 2025.

NSFAS walk-in applications for TVET College students for 2025 are now open and will close on 24 January 2025. The scheme has aligned its application opening and closing dates with the academic calendar for TVET colleges.

NSFAS 2025 Application Dates for TVET Colleges

  • Opening Date: 13 January 2025
  • Closing Date: 24 January 2025

Students must apply for the academic cycle they intend to register for.

How TVET College Students Can Apply for NSFAS Funding

The 2025 NSFAS application process remains unchanged, with all applications submitted via the myNSFAS portal. NSFAS emphasised that students must complete their applications in full, rather than simply creating a myNSFAS profile.

Steps to Apply for NSFAS

  1. Create a myNSFAS account: Visit the NSFAS website and create an account.
  2. Complete the application form: Provide all required information, including personal details, contact information, academic history, and financial details.
  3. Upload supporting documents.
  4. Submit your application.

NSFAS also reminded students that the application process is entirely free—no fees are charged at any stage.
