Matric exams refer to South Africa's National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams, which is the culmination of 12 years of schooling. These exams, administered by the Department of Basic Education (DBE), often determine a learner's further education prospects. The NSC certificate is also a prerequisite for most entry-level jobs.

The exams typically begin in October and run through November, with results released in January the following year. They consist of written papers and practical assessments.

How To Check Matric Results With ID Number

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) provides an online platform for matriculants to check their results.

Step 1: Visit the official DBE website at education.gov.za on the release date.

Step 2: Look for the “Results” section.

Step 3: Enter your ID number and examination number.

Step 4: Click “Submit.”

After following these steps, your results should appear immediately.

School and Provincial Offices

If you’re unable to access your results online or via SMS, your school is the next option. Schools receive official copies of results on release day.

The Statement of Results is available from January at the school/exam centre where the candidate wrote.

Alternatively, contact your provincial education department for assistance.

After Receiving Matric Results

If you find errors in your matric results, you contact your school or the DBE immediately.

Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.

After receiving your results, take time to plan your next steps. Whether pursuing tertiary education, entering the workforce, or exploring vocational training, ensure you make informed decisions.
