The National Student Financial Aid Scheme has recently opened appeals for student funding applicants whose applications may have been unsuccessful.

NSFAS may reject a student funding application for a wide variety of reasons depending on what the NSFAS application status on your myNSFAS Portal tells you. So if your status says “null” here is what it means.

When your 2022 funding status is ‘null’ it means that your funding status is being processed. Kindly continue to monitor the myNSFAS portal for updates.

However, as pointed out above, appeals at NSFAS are currently open until 3 March 2022, so should your application be rejected for any reason, here is how you can lodge your application appeal.

Here’s How To Appeal Your Nsfas Rejection Status

  • Log into your ‘myNSFAS’ account on www.nsfas.org.za
  • Click the 'Track Funding Progress' option
  • Check the application progress tabs
  • If your application status reflects an unsuccessful message, you may submit an appeal by clicking on the 'Submit Appeal Tab'
  • Once you are on the 'Application Appeal' page, you can see the reason for your unsuccessful application status
  • You are then able to choose the appeal reason
  • Then upload certified supporting documents to support your reason
  • Then click 'Submit Appeal'
  • You may now track the progress of the appeal on your myNSFAS account.

You can track the progress of the appeal on your myNSFAS account after a few days. The Nsfas bursary covers tuition costs, accommodation costs, food, transport, textbook allowance and learning material costs.
