Many young South Africans are wanting to further their studies and while many want to attend University, there are so many other options as well.
South Africa has 26 public Universities and Universities of Technology who boast excellent programmes equipped to train students for their future careers. From medicine to journalism, universities have a programme for you.
If you’re not wanting to go to University or haven’t received a space, there are still other avenues for you to take such as private higher education institutions and there are a lot to choose from.
Some private higher education institutions specialise in a specific discipline like FEDISA which specialises in fashion and Vega School which specialises in Media. There are also other private institutions such as Boston City Campus which offer a range of courses, from Human Resources to Music Production.
Another option for your post-Matric life is colleges.
South Africa has 50 public TVET Colleges. TVET stands for Technical Vocational Education and Training as TVET Colleges focus on vocational and occupational education and training with the aim of preparing students to become functional workers in a skilled trade.
You can do two types of TVET College courses with one needing you to only have grade 9 and the other grade 12.
At a TVET College, you can do a National Certificate (Vocational) course or a Report 191 NATED course.
Then there are private colleges. These include Varsity College, where you can get degrees which are equivalent to University degrees. We have a variety of private colleges students can choose from to attend with a range of courses being offered.
