There are plenty of other options available to students who have not achieved their matric certificate, such as volunteering, gaining work experience, attending a TVET college or completing an internship or learnership. By doing this you will be able to gain experience and add that to your resume.
A matric certificate is a document that confirms a student's completion of high school education. This is the most basic qualification required to apply for most jobs in South Africa, but it's there are jobs available to people without their matric. You can get a job without having your matric certificate, as long as you have something else to prove your eligibility like the motivation and drive to to your best.
When you don't have your matric certificate, it is hard to get a job or even volunteer in many cases. People with jobs do not want to take risks on people who have no work experience. There are alternatives though, which will enable you to get a job without experiencing any issues with the lack of your matric certificate.
There are entry level jobs which you can apply for without having any previous work experience. For example, you could work in retail or at McDonald's. You will be trained on how to use equipment and how to deal with customers. If you show that you can do this, there is no doubt that you will be promoted quickly through your hard work.
Another option would be to start completing an internship early on in the year after matric, so that by the time you are done studying for your degree, you already have some work experience to show prospective employers when looking for full-time employment. This way, you won't have problems getting a job right after university and also getting a good salary.
