What is the duration of a cosmetology course?
Most cosmetology majors or programs typically take 2 years and can be completed at any community and technical colleges or specialised cosmetology schools. Each institution will have their own unique set of requirements and processes that needs to be adhered to.
On average the length of time to complete the training and licensing can be between four to five years. However, if you choose to study part-time, it could take longer. During this period of time you will have to complete a 2 year associate degree. Depending on what your career goal is, you can enrol yourself to an accelerated program/short course that can be completed in nine months.
Students are most likely to only receive their degree once completing an internship or apprenticeship. An internship is one of the best ways to gain an in-depth experience and broaden your level of expertise.
