The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), in collaboration with the MerSETA, is offering a 12-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Internship Programme aimed at students who require practical training to complete their National Diploma qualifications.

Location: Scientia, Pretoria (Hybrid work model)

About the Programme

The CSIR is one of South Africa’s leading scientific and technology research organisations. Through this WIL programme, the CSIR provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience under the mentorship of experienced professionals.

The internship is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, thereby improving graduate employability in key scientific and engineering fields. The experiential training will allow students to fulfil National Diploma requirements.

  •     Computer Engineering
  •     Aeronautical Engineering
  •     Software Engineering

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  •     Be a South African citizen
  •     Be registered full-time at a University of Technology
  •     Have completed all theoretical modules and only require practical experience to obtain a National Diploma
  •     Be studying in one of the above-listed fields

  •     A certified copy of your South African ID
  •     A comprehensive CV
  •     Your latest academic transcript
  •     Proof of current registration
  •     An official letter from your institution confirming the need for experiential training
